Kathmandu – “Purna Bahadurko Sarangi” aside, Nepali films have not been able to perform well at the box office lately. Although a large number of movies have been released, there has been a lack of excitement in terms of box office earnings. Regardless of the genre, actors, or directors, films have failed to succeed. Even movies starring renowned actors like Pradeep Khadka, Priyanka Karki, Richa Sharma, Dayahang Rai, Saugat Malla, and others have struggled to perform well.
With the cold months of Mangsir, Poush, and Magh, the cinema box office also turned cold. The enthusiasm that had been visible in the Nepali film industry since last Baisakh has faded. It is uncertain which movie will revive this declining box office because the film business is unpredictable. However, based on the content, teasers, and songs released so far, as well as the audience’s interest, there is a possibility that the movie “Laaj Sharanam” will bring back the lost momentum of the market. The Laaj Sharanam team believes that as summer begins, the film will heat up the market, which has been cold during the winter.
The aggressive promotion by the Laaj Sharanam team, along with the song sung by Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah and the high production value seen in the teaser, suggests that this movie could help revive the market. Featuring well-known faces such as Sitaram Kattel ‘Dhurmus,’ Bijaya Baral, Arjun Ghimire ‘Pande,’ Harish Niraula ‘Cockroach,’ and Sagar Lamsal ‘Bale,’ the film has the potential to attract audiences.
Balen Shah’s song has increased the hype for Laaj Sharanam, helping the movie reach a wider audience. The production team is confident that this will help draw viewers to theaters. Laaj Sharanam is a film made by the team behind the popular comedy TV series Sakkigoni. From the writer and actors to the director, the entire team is from Sakkigoni. The lead role in Laaj Sharanam is played by Sitaram Kattel, while the movie is directed by Kumar Kattel.
Produced by the Sakkigoni team, the film stars Dhurmus, Bijaya, Arjun, Sagar, Harish, Priyana Acharya, Mahesh Tripathi, Arpan Thapa, Renu Yogi, Vijaya Lama, Mukunda Shrestha, Mala Limbu, and others. Under the banner of JPT Creation, the film is produced by Navin Shrestha, with Ram Naresh Shah and Srijana Khadka serving as co-producers. Laaj Sharanam is one of the most anticipated films of the year and is set to release on Falgun 14 (on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri).
