Description
Jyoti Magar, also known as Jyoti Thapa Magar, is a popular and controversial Nepali folk singer, model, and dancer known for her bold style and outspoken personality. Born in Rolpa and raised in Dang, Nepal, she developed an early passion for music and moved to Kathmandu to pursue a career in the industry. She began her professional singing career around 2006 and rose to fame with hit folk songs like “Uhi Mulako Sinki Uhi Mulako Chana,” “Jimmal Bauki Chhori,” “Dhade Biralo,” and “Piratima Dam Chha.” Her music combines traditional Nepali folk melodies with modern presentation, making her a unique and widely discussed figure in the entertainment world.
Jyoti Magar is equally known for her glamorous and daring performances, which often challenge conservative norms in Nepal. She has faced criticism and controversy over her costumes and stage presence, but she remains unapologetic, frequently defending her right to express herself freely. Despite controversies, she has a massive fan base and has performed internationally in countries such as Japan, Malaysia, Qatar, UAE, Europe, and the United States.
In addition to singing, she has also appeared on television, including a role in “Dancing with the Stars Nepal.” Jyoti continues to inspire and challenge the traditional boundaries of Nepali music with her fearless approach, becoming one of the most talked-about and influential female figures in modern Nepali folk music.
