Shiv Bahadur Pariyar, popularly known as Shiva Pariyar (Nepali: शिव परियार), is a renowned Nepali singer, songwriter, and composer, celebrated for his versatile contributions to the Nepali music industry. Born in Sarlahi, Nepal, he began his musical training at a young age and quickly rose to prominence through his mastery of both Eastern classical and modern pop music. Not only is he a talented vocalist, but he also plays instruments like the tabla and piano, adding depth to his musical compositions. His career took off after winning a gold medal in the National Contemporary Music Competition hosted by Radio Nepal in 2003. In 2005, he released his debut album Mokshya, which was followed by a series of successful albums including Swayam, Kadambini, Kya Daami, Fateko Man, Pagal, and Shiva Book. As of 2019, he had released thirteen studio albums, with songs like Dherai Choti Maren Ma Ta, Kaha Thiyeu Timi, Alikati Nazar Timro, and Pakera Khako Fal Mitho becoming household favorites. His music is known for its emotional depth, lyrical beauty, and seamless blend of traditional and modern styles. In May 2023, he gained further recognition as one of the six judges on Mero Voice Universe, Nepal’s first international reality TV singing competition. Through his music and mentorship, Shiva Pariyar continues to inspire a new generation of Nepali musicians and remains a prominent figure in the country’s cultural landscape.
