Kathmandu — Madhu Bhattarai met Rajesh Hamal when she was just 18 years old. Interestingly, when they first met, Madhu hid her real age from him. Although she was only 18 at the time, she told Hamal she was 20, so that he wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. Madhu is also a model.
Their first meeting took place in 2004 (2061 BS) during a beauty pageant in Biratnagar, where Rajesh Hamal was serving as one of the judges. After that event, the two began to grow closer. Despite the significant age difference, Madhu had already started to develop feelings for Rajesh. Hamal, however, suggested they take 4 to 5 years to understand each other better before deciding on marriage.
Eventually, the couple’s long love relationship culminated in marriage. Rajesh Hamal, who had once been determined never to marry, changed his mind after meeting Madhu. The two were married in 2014 (2071 BS).
