KATHMANDU — The release date of the upcoming Nepali film Pension Patta, directed by actor Mao Tse Gurung, has been officially announced. The film will hit theaters nationwide on Bhadra 26, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Haritalika Teej.

The announcement was made on Nepali New Year’s Day with the unveiling of the film’s title poster. The director stated that the release date was chosen in consultation with the production and distribution teams, citing it as a strong commercial window.

Interestingly, New Year’s Day also marks the birthday of actor Dayahang Rai, who leads the cast. Director Gurung mentioned that the timing was considered lucky and strategically appropriate, noting that no other major film has currently claimed the same date.

The film features a strong ensemble cast including Sunil Thapa, Buddhi Tamang, Wilson Bikram Rai, Gaumaya Gurung, and several other artists from the Gurung film fraternity. Actors Vishwa Gurung and Maya Gurung will be making their debut in Nepali cinema through this project.

Pension Patta is produced under Mao Tse Gurung Films, with the story also written by the director himself. Despite its title suggesting a military pensioner’s story, Gurung clarified that the film focuses on a social transformation narrative—showing how a greedy young man changes into a generous person.

The film is produced by Min Konme Gurung (Sikles), Bhoj Bahadur Gurung (UK), and Sapana Gurung, with DB Gurung serving as production manager. Cinematography is handled by Susan Prajapati, while Suraj Tamang is the casting director. Music is composed by Manoj Thapa Magar and Shiva Baraily. Editing is done by Surendra Poudel.

The film will be distributed nationwide by RR Films, led by Rohit Kattel and Ratna Shrestha.
