Kathmandu — The teaser of the upcoming Nepali film ‘Gaunthali’ has been officially released, offering an emotional glimpse into a story centered on family relationships, marital struggles, and maternal bonds. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on Sawan 1.
Directed by Dr. Kapil Rijal, the teaser highlights a deeply emotional narrative involving a husband, wife, and mother, focusing on the complexities of domestic life. It portrays a mother’s efforts to secure a stable married life for her daughter, alongside the hardships the daughter faces in her marital home.
The lead roles are played by Arun Chhetri and Simran Khadka. The teaser showcases Arun Chhetri in a strict and intense role, while Simran Khadka is seen portraying the emotional suffering of a young bride, drawing strong emotional impact.
The film also features veteran and popular actors including Madan Krishna Shrestha, Prakash Ghimire, Lunibha Tuladhar, Rabindra Jha, Ishwori Baral, Sanjog Rasaili, Sita Devi Timsina, Laxminath Timsina, and Rajendra Nepali. Child actors Anshu Oli and Prince Nepali also appear in key roles.
The story has been written by Dr. Bhola Rijal, with the screenplay and dialogue developed collaboratively by director Kapil Rijal along with Nischal Kunar, Niraj Nepal, and Giriraj Ghimire. The film’s symbolic title “Gaunthali” represents home, family, and emotional closeness.
Produced under Bhola Rijal Production and Suman Giri Production, the film’s executive producer is Sarala Rijal, while Suman Giri and Kapil Rijal serve as producers. Co-producers include Indu Giri, Manish Rijal, Pralay Rijal, and Jeevan Oli.
The film features music by Shambhujeet Baskota, Thaneshwor Gautam, and Prashant Siva Koti, with background score by Alps Carkey. Cinematography is handled by Hari Humagain, while editing is done by Milan Shrestha.
Giriraj Ghimire serves as the chief assistant director, with Aryan Adhikari and Buddhi Nepali as assistant directors. Sound design is done by Mukesh Shah, color grading by Rajendra Moktan, and choreography by Ramji Lamichhane and Mausam Himali.
The film will be distributed by Rich Entertainment, Apple Entertainment, and F.D. Company, with OSR Digital as the official digital partner.
The makers also noted that an earlier film titled “Gaunthali” was produced two decades ago by Dr. Bhola Rijal, considered Nepal’s first musical film. The new version carries the same name but presents a fresh story for a new generation under the direction of his son, Dr. Kapil Rijal.
