Kathmandu – The teaser of the upcoming Nepali film “Hali”, scheduled for theatrical release on August 7 (Shrawan 22), has been officially unveiled. As the release date draws closer, the production team has intensified its promotional campaign by releasing a powerful one-minute and 28-second teaser.

The teaser sheds light on Nepal’s deeply rooted Chhaupadi practice, portraying the harsh reality faced by girls during menstruation. It depicts a young girl being forced to stay in a secluded shed, while her family—including her own father—is prohibited from seeing her. The emotional preview also introduces an educated young man who challenges these discriminatory traditions by taking legal action against society. Although the story may seem historical, the teaser reflects a social issue that continues to exist in parts of Nepal today. The filmmakers have kept the rest of the story under wraps, leaving audiences eager for the film’s release.

Written and directed by Om Pratik, who also plays the lead role, Hali features an ensemble cast including Saroj Khanal, Pramod Deep, Aruna Karki, Arjun Gurung, Bidya Karki, Nabin Shrestha, Kanchan Dulal, Kamal Gaule, and Bishal Pahadi.

Produced jointly by Japura Films Production and Shubh Chirayu Films, the film is financed by entrepreneurs Pooja Gurung and Jasmine Shrestha. A promotional song released a month ago generated significant attention, featuring special dance performances by Deepa Shree Niraula, Kiran K.C., Dilip Rayamajhi, Priyanka Karki, and Pooja Sharma. The positive response to the song has further increased audience anticipation for the film.

The choreography is led by renowned choreographer Kabiraj Gahatraj, with Om Pratik and Gahatraj jointly choreographing some of the songs.

The film’s executive producer is Arjun Bhusal, while Namrata Bhandari serves as co-producer. Laxman Karmacharya is the line producer, and Jeevanath Gautam is the chief assistant director. The cinematography is by Rahul Rai, while editing has been handled by Ram Prasad Chaudhary with additional editing by Bipin Malla.

The soundtrack features music by veteran composer Shambhujit Baskota, Babul Giri, and Krishna Bhardwaj. One of the songs, written by Jasmine Shrestha and composed by Babul Giri, is performed by Babul Giri and popular singer Shanti Shree Pariyar.

The film’s action sequences are directed by Kumar Maharjan. Distribution will be handled by National Cine Group Pvt. Ltd., while OSAR Digital is the official digital partner. Actress Sujata Thapa, who had been residing abroad, has also arrived in Nepal to participate in the film’s promotional activities and has expressed great excitement about the project.
