Kathmandu: The first-look poster of the upcoming Nepali film ‘Aa Baat Aama 2’ has been unveiled with an emotional slogan highlighting the pain of mothers waiting for their children who have left home.
The poster was released on Monday on the occasion of Haritalika Teej, offering the first visual glimpse of the film’s story and emotional theme.
The film’s slogan reads, “This cracked house asked again… ‘Your child didn’t come home this Dashain either, did they, mother?’” The line reflects the central theme of the film, which explores family separation, the emotional struggles of mothers, and the changing social landscape of Nepali society.
The first-look poster artistically portrays the loneliness experienced by families during festivals. Broken glass, old photographs and fragmented family memories have been used as visual elements to represent broken relationships and separation.
One of the poster images features actors Pradeep Rawat and Bipana Thapa embracing and crying, with an airplane flying above them. The visual symbolizes Nepali youths leaving their homes in search of employment and better opportunities abroad.
Another section of the poster features Pal Shah and Saigres Pokharel, recalling happier moments from the past. The poster also includes scenes depicting Dashain celebrations, with family members wearing tika and jamara and enjoying the traditional swing.
In one emotional image, Pal Shah and Saigres are seen wearing tika and jamara while their mother embraces them in tears. Unlike her sons, the mother does not have tika or jamara on her forehead, emphasizing her emotional state rather than the festive atmosphere.
The poster also features a village Dashain setting, where Bipana Thapa is seen enjoying a traditional swing while Pal Shah pushes it. Pradeep Rawat appears in the background, while Akash Shrestha, Saigres Pokharel, Gajit Bista and Nikita Acharya are also seen enjoying the festive environment.
Another image shows Bipana Thapa and Saigres in a cheerful mood while Pradeep Rawat and Pal Shah appear emotional. A black-and-white photograph of Pal Shah with his parents has also been placed alongside a colorful image of Rishta Gurung.
The central slogan of the poster further underlines the film’s emotional narrative. It reflects not only a physically cracked house but also the emotional cracks in a mother’s heart as she waits year after year for her children to return home.
The film attempts to portray the increasingly empty villages during major festivals, children living away from home, and the emotional lives of mothers who continue to wait for their return.
Pal Shah, Malika Mahat, Rishta Gurung, Nikita Acharya, Bipana Thapa, Akash Shrestha, Sabin Shrestha, Pradeep Rawat, Saigres Pokharel, Gajit Bista, Naren Khadka and Dilip Akheda, among others, are featured in the film.
The film is edited by Sahil Khan and Milan Shrestha, while Karan Singh Rasaily serves as the production manager.
Presented by Arya Entertainment, ‘Aa Baat Aama 2’ is the sequel to last year’s successful film ‘Aa Baat Aama’. The film is written and directed by Chandra Pant.
RR Films will distribute the film across Nepal, while OSR holds its digital rights.
‘Aa Baat Aama 2’ is scheduled to hit theaters nationwide on Ashoj 30, a day before the Dashain festival of Phulpati.
