Kathmandu – Anjana Pun will be playing the lead actress in the upcoming Nepali film Yani Maya. Active in the modeling industry for the past decade, Anjana will be making her acting debut through this film. Yani Maya is the first project being produced under actor Paul Shah’s production banner, Paul Shah Films.
Anjana Pun is an established model. She has won titles such as Miss Magar Hong Kong 2014 and Miss Hong Kong Nepal 2023. In the Miss Nepal 2024 pageant, she received the awards for Miss Real Popular Choice and Miss Delightful Happy Intelligence. Alongside modeling, she has also been active in acting. She has featured in songs such as Badhai Timilai, Na Chhoera Yauvan Katiyo, Mayalai Pako Paat, Aago Lagyo, 100% Sahi Ho, and Aankhaile Bolna. In some of these songs, she has worked with Paul Shah as well. Anjana is also the brand ambassador for the Cancer Prevention Foundation.
The film, written and directed by Bikash Subedi, will combine elements of philosophical metamodern cinema with family drama. It will explore themes such as intergenerational conflict, the tension between modernity and tradition, and the struggle between urban life and nature. Filming is scheduled to begin in the Nepali month of Shrawan, with scenic locations selected in Dhorpatan, Baglung, and parts of Hong Kong.
For Paul Shah, this marks his debut as a producer, while for Bikash Subedi, it is his first attempt at direction after working as a writer. Along with Paul Shah, Chandrajyoti Ale will also serve as a producer for the film.
