Pashupati Sharma is a renowned Nepali folk singer, songwriter, and social commentator known for his powerful voice and thought-provoking lyrics. Born on October 31, 1982, in Putalibazar-3, Sauthar, Syangja, Nepal, he moved to Kathmandu in 2003 to pursue his musical career. He began by performing at the Saptakoshi Dohori Sanjh club and released his first official song the same year. Over time, Pashupati became a household name in Nepali folk music, with more than 200 songs to his credit, including Teej songs, duet dohori tracks, and solo hits.
His music often tackles themes like patriotism, migration, corruption, social injustice, and love, frequently using satire to shed light on real-life struggles. One of his most talked-about songs, “Lutna Sake Lut, Nepal Mai Chha Chhut,” criticized corruption in Nepal and stirred controversy, even drawing government pressure to take it down temporarily. Similarly, “Malai America Yahi” highlighted the plight of Nepali migrant workers abroad, earning him praise for his bold voice.
