Film Development Board Signs Agreements with 14 Ethnic Organizations

Kathmandu — Under the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Film Development Board has signed agreements with 14 ethnic film-related organizations to promote mother-tongue and indigenous community cinema.

Based on the recommendation of its Indigenous and Mother-Tongue Film Promotion Committee, the Board has approved a total budget of Rs 4.195 million for training programs, workshops and film festivals aimed at preserving and promoting indigenous and native-language films, and enhancing technical capacity.

Chairperson of the Film Development Board, Dinesh DC, said the initiative is an important step toward inclusive film development and the protection of Nepal’s linguistic and cultural identity.
