Film Journalists Association of Nepal Concludes Branch Conventions

Kathmandu – The Film Journalists Association of Nepal has successfully completed conventions of its 15 district branches and 8 international branches. According to Association President Samir Balami, the organization has a strong presence across all provinces and districts.

President Balami stated that the association is not limited to film journalism alone but is also active in art, literature, music, theater, entertainment, and other cultural events. The association has been expanding its organizational reach not only at the district level but also nationally.

The 10th Central General Convention is scheduled for Baisakh 5 in Kathmandu, where a 17-member central committee will be elected for the next three years.

Several branches have already elected new working committees.
Koshi Province Branch elected Birendra Shah (President), Ramesh Tiwari and Goma Dhungana (Vice Presidents), Bikal Shrestha (General Secretary), Tulsi Prasad Niraula and Som Sunuwar (Secretaries), and Gopal Kafle (Treasurer).
Kaski Branch elected Santosh Basyal (President), Gaurav Tripathi (Vice President), Suresh Sunar (Secretary), Siddhartha Gautam (Joint Secretary), and Surakshya Shrestha (Treasurer).
Parsa Branch elected Suryanarayan Bik (President), Anand Patel (Vice President), Ranjan Yadav (Secretary), Dipu Barmachal (Joint Treasurer), and Savanam Bhattarai (Treasurer).

Sunsari Branch elected Subas Sankalp Shrestha (President), Rabin Raut (Vice President), Manoj Dahal (Secretary), Rashmi Thapa (Joint Secretary), and Sumit Karki (Treasurer).
Makwanpur Branch elected Kapil Khadka (President), Rabindra Gautam (Vice President), Manoj Devkota (Secretary), Manjita Mainali (Joint Secretary), and Sannu Rizal (Treasurer).
Morang Branch unanimously elected Prem Dewan as President along with an 11-member committee.

Chitwan Branch elected Govinda Aryal (President), Bandana Devkota (Vice President), Sushil Pant (Secretary), Ayush Nyaupane (Joint Secretary), and Yuvraj Sharma (Treasurer).
Ilam Branch elected Atit Yonghang (President), Durgesh Bhattarai (Vice President), Sunita Magar (Secretary), Srishti Kurumbang (Joint Secretary), and Sarina Rai (Treasurer).
Rupandehi Branch elected Krishna Bhandari (President), Kalpana Dumre (Vice President), Prakash Pande (Secretary), Rajiv Bhusal (Joint Secretary), and Manoj Kshetri (Treasurer).

Kailali Branch elected Bibek Nagari (President), Rama Chand (Vice President), Loku Singh Thakuri (Secretary), Yagyaraj Awasthi (Joint Secretary), and Yamuna Saund (Treasurer).
Jhapa Branch elected Ekaraj Pradhan (President), Sunita Tamang (Vice President), Suraj Pradhan (Secretary), Pritam Dhamala (Joint Secretary), and Asmita Sanki (Treasurer).
Surkhet Branch (Ad-hoc Committee) formed under Ramesh Kumar Pande (President), Akwar Khan (Vice President), Man Bahadur Wali (Secretary), Rama KC (Joint Secretary), and Nabin Subedi (Treasurer).
Banke Branch elected Ramchandra Paudel (President), Samir Man Shrestha (Vice President), Laxmi Timilsina (Secretary), Rajani Yogi (Joint Secretary), and Amrita Jaishi (Treasurer).
Dang Branch elected Nirala Aryal (President), Bhupesh Wali (Vice President), Ekaraj Bhandari (Secretary), and Jhaggu Bhandari (Treasurer).

The association has been expanding nationally and internationally, actively promoting its brand through various initiatives. It regularly conducts capacity-building programs, interactions, workshops, national gatherings, foundation day events, welfare fund operations, and support activities for members in need. The association also provides policy-level guidance and maintains a strong presence in official meetings.

The Film Journalists Association has played a vital role in strengthening Nepal’s film industry through media collaboration. Its growing organizational structure is expected to further enhance film journalism and cultural activities at the national level.
