First Look Video of Sci-Fi Nepali Film ‘Eklo’ Released, Gaining Buzz After Cannes Market Appearance

Kathmandu – The first look video of the Nepali science fiction-based film ‘Eklo’ has been officially released. The video, unveiled through OSR Digital’s official YouTube channel, showcases the appearances of all the major characters in the film.

‘Eklo’ had already marked its international presence through a promotional stall at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Following its Cannes exposure, the film has garnered significant attention, with audiences showing heightened curiosity toward its teaser and promotional content.

The film is directed by Pradeep Shahi, who has previously directed two films. Residing in the United Kingdom for many years, Shahi is developing ‘Eklo’ with Hollywood-level technology and presentation. Currently, the film is in its post-production phase in London, and the production team has announced plans to release it around Christmas, in the Nepali month of Poush.

The cast of the film includes Pradeep Khadka, Vijay Lama, Sunil Thapa, Diya Pun, Benisha Hamal, Dinesh DC, Kabita Nepali, Suraj Singh Thakuri, Avan Raj Upreti, Trichu Rai, Krishna Bhakta Maharjan, Bikash Adhikari, Diggaj Khatri, Vinod Subedi ‘Kshitiz’, and Shrishes Shrestha. It also features child artists Jemin Shrestha and Syon Sabik Singh, along with British actor Jamie Bacon.

The producers of the film are Raju Kumar Gurung, Hari Shrestha, Bishnu Tamang, Utsav Bista, Bhairaja Thapa, Naveen Shiva, Bagbir Pun, Bhuvan Adhikari, Sangita Wadi Shrestha, Ritesh Rana, Sushil Prajapati, and Shashikala Gurung. The executive producer is Vinod Subedi ‘Kshitiz’.

Cinematography is handled by Babu Shrestha, while Raju Tamang is in charge of action direction. The set design is done by Raju Painter, art direction by Santosh Lama, and production design by Dron Prasad Paudel ‘Theuke’.

‘Eklo’ is regarded as a serious attempt to deliver a high-quality science fiction film within the Nepali movie industry and is being seen as a major leap forward in genre-based filmmaking in Nepal.
