Kathmandu – The first poster of Gobar Ganesh, the debut directorial venture of popular comedian Marichman Shrestha (widely known as Balchi Dhurbe), has been officially released. The poster features the film’s lead pair — Marichman Shrestha and actress Barsha Siwakoti — confirming that the two will appear opposite each other for the first time on the big screen.
The poster paints a cheerful and light-hearted scene: Barsha is seen riding a rickshaw while Marichman sits inside it, both wearing bright, joyful expressions. Their attire and surroundings hint that the characters work as municipal waste collectors; the rickshaw carries garbage, a dustpan is visible, and Marichman has a whistle hanging around his neck. The densely packed houses in the background resemble the landscape of Kirtipur.
A dominant greenish color tone in the poster suggests a positive, uplifting storyline, though the production team has not yet revealed details about the plot. Filming has been completed, and Gobar Ganesh is currently in post-production.
While unveiling the poster, director Shrestha expressed confidence that the film would receive the same love on the big screen that audiences have shown him on television. He added that the movie presents themes and storytelling styles that Nepali viewers have always appreciated.
Produced under Balchi Dhurbe Films, the movie features a strong ensemble cast including Binod Neupane, Padam Tamang, Nirmal Sharma, Laxmi Nath Timalsena, Santosh Baniya, Sandeep Lama, Maotse Gurung, Sita Devi Timilsina, Pujan Ghimire (Puku), Buddhi Tamang, Bishal Pahadi, Ramesh Budhathoki, Swastika Lamichhane and others.
The film’s chief assistant director is Taranath Neupane. The team includes Yogesh Kaji Shah (BGM), Shankar Pandey (Production), Shivaram Shrestha (DOP), and Bipin Malla (Editor).
Publicity design is handled by Towwa Studio, and OSR Digital serves as the digital partner.
In Nepal, the film will be distributed by Shree Byaktes Entertainment.
Gobar Ganesh is slated for release on Magh 1.
