Former Brigadier Bharat Chandra Gurung Releases Folk-Rock Song ‘Chha Salam Maya Lai’

Kathmandu — Former Brigadier and singer Bharat Chandra Gurung has released his new folk-rock song Chha Salam Maya Lai. The song and its music video were unveiled at a special program organized by the Lama Gurung Sewa Samaj under the chairmanship of the society’s president, Er. Mahendra Bahadur Gurung.

The song features lyrics by Gaurav Gurung and music composed by Madan Singh Nepali, while the music video has been directed by Milan Moktan. The event was inaugurated by paying floral tributes to the photographs of the society’s founder and visionary late Capt. Indrajit Gurung and his wife late Mahalaxmi Gurung.

The program was attended by notable figures including lyricist Gaurav Gurung, musicians Madan Singh Nepali and Milan Moktan, former Brigadier and writer Dr. Ash Bahadur Tamang, and Lyricists Association Nepal President Basanta Bityasi Thapa, among others. Former Brigadier Navaraj Gurung, vice president of the society, welcomed the guests, while the event was hosted by society secretary Sanju Gurung.

On the occasion, lyricist Gaurav Gurung, composer Madan Singh Nepali, director Milan Moktan and scriptwriter Dr. Ash Bahadur Tamang were honored for their creative contributions. Speaking after the release, composer Madan Singh Nepali described Gurung as a “folk-rock star,” stating that the song delivers energy, motivation and wholesome entertainment. Director Moktan shared that Gurung’s passion and energy inspired him to present the video creatively in line with the song’s audio.

Singer Gurung expressed gratitude to all contributors, sharing his personal connection to the song and acknowledging the support of his family, especially his wife Chandani Gurung. He said the song reflects love, companionship and positive energy applicable to everyone. The event concluded with thanks from society president Er. Mahendra Bahadur Gurung to all guests and participants for making the program successful.
