Kathmandu: The song Aankha Bhari Aansu from the upcoming Nepali film Gauthali was officially unveiled on Thursday at a special event in Kathmandu. The film’s production team introduced the song in a unique and creative manner, transforming the venue into a wedding-like setting.

Actors featured in the song arrived dressed as a bride and groom, accompanied by guests portraying members of a traditional wedding procession. The atmosphere was further enhanced by the sound of Panchai Baja, while participants danced and celebrated just like in an actual wedding ceremony. The decorated venue closely resembled a wedding house, drawing the attention of attendees and media alike.

Although it appeared to be a real wedding celebration, the gathering was in fact organized to launch the film’s latest song.

The newly released track features vocals by Thaneshwor Gautam and Shanti Shree Pariyar, with music composed by Gautam himself. The lyrics have been penned by Dr. Bhola Rijal. The music video stars lead actors Arun Chhetri and Simran Khadka, who also appeared at the event dressed as the bride and groom, mirroring their appearance in the song.

The song captures the emotional pain of a daughter leaving her parental home after marriage. It portrays the sorrow of bidding farewell to one’s family, village, parents, relatives, and childhood memories before beginning a new life in a different household. The lyrics also reflect the emotional burden faced by parents who, despite their deep love for their daughters, must eventually send them away according to social tradition.

Directed by Dr. Kapil Rijal, Gauthali is scheduled for release on July 17 (Shrawan 1). According to the filmmakers, the symbolic meaning of “Gauthali” revolves around home, family, and togetherness.

The film boasts a strong ensemble cast including Madan Krishna Shrestha, Prakash Ghimire, Lunibha Tuladhar, Rabindra Jha, Ishwori Baral, Sanjog Rasaili, Sita Devi Timilsina, Laxminath Timilsina, and Rajendra Nepali. Child actors Anshu Oli and Prince Nepali also feature in the film.

Based on a story by Dr. Bhola Rijal, the screenplay and dialogues have been co-written by director Dr. Kapil Rijal along with Nishchal Kunwar, Niraj Nepal, and Giriraj Ghimire.

Produced under the banners of Bhola Rijal Production and Suman Giri Production, the film has Sarala Rijal as Executive Producer. Suman Giri and Dr. Kapil Rijal serve as producers, while Indu Giri, Manish Rijal, Pralaya Rijal, and Jeevan Oli are co-producers.

The film’s music has been composed by Shambhujit Baskota, Thaneshwor Gautam, and Prashant Siwakoti, while Alish Karki has created the background score.

Cinematography has been handled by Hari Humagain, with editing by Milan Shrestha. Giriraj Ghimire serves as Chief Assistant Director, while Aryan Adhikari and Buddhi Nepali are assistant directors. The technical team also includes Mukesh Shah for sound mixing, Rajendra Moktan for color grading, and choreographers Ramji Lamichhane and Mausam Himali.

The film will be distributed by Rich Entertainment, Apple Entertainment, and FD Company, while OSR Digital has joined as the digital partner.

Interestingly, Dr. Bhola Rijal had produced a film with the same title, Gauthali, nearly two decades ago. That film is regarded as Nepal’s first musical feature film and successfully celebrated a 51-day theatrical run. The new Gauthali is directed by his son, Dr. Kapil Rijal, carrying forward the legacy with a fresh cinematic interpretation.
