Kathmandu- The health condition of Madan Prize-winning writer Jhamak Kumari Ghimire is becoming more complicated. The 44-year-old Jhamak, who suffers from congenital brain paralysis, is unable to move both her hands and legs, and she cannot speak. However, overcoming her physical weakness, she has published 14 works. Her autobiography, “Jeevan Kanda Ki Phool,” won the Madan Prize in 2068 B.S. (2011).
Currently, her condition has worsened due to additional issues with her nerves, and she is suffering from difficulty in sitting and eating. Although the government provided her with a house in Kathmandu, she could not live there for a long time due to some security concerns. She sustains her livelihood and treatment with a monthly allowance of 25,000 Nepali rupees and proceeds from book sales.
Jhamak Ghimire, who is setting an example of struggle and success to the world from Nepali soil, is in our thoughts for a speedy recovery.
