‘Jhari Pachhiko Indreni’ Brings Generations Together to Reflect Today’s Nepal

Kathmandu – The upcoming Nepali film After the Rain, a Rainbow (Jharipachhiko Indreni) is set to hit cinemas with a compelling blend of veteran performers, fresh faces, and debut actors, offering a cinematic reflection of Nepal’s current social and political climate.

Directed by Arjun Ghimire (Pande), the film marks his debut as a feature film director after earning widespread recognition on television with the hit series Sakkigoni. Drawing on his experience in socially rooted storytelling, Ghimire presents a narrative that bridges generations—both on screen and in theme.

One of the film’s highlights is the return of renowned actors Ganesh Upreti and Ramesh Upreti, who once dominated Nepali cinema and television. Their comeback adds emotional weight and nostalgia, while also creating a strong contrast with the new generation of actors making their first appearance on the silver screen.

The story explores political instability, public frustration, and the growing anger of Generation Z, focusing on how the absence of a stable system impacts everyday life and forces many young Nepalis to consider leaving the country. Actress Priyanka Acharya (Munni) says the film captures Gen Z protests, youth outrage, and the deep uncertainty about the future—making the story strikingly relevant to today’s Nepal.

Actors Vimochan Dawadi and Jessica Pokharel make their official debut with this film, expressing confidence that After the Rain, a Rainbow will help establish them in Nepali cinema. The film also features strong performances by Deepashree Niraula, Prakash Ghimire, Sarita Giri, Deshbhakta Khanal, and several other well-known artists.

Produced by Nagaraj Entertainment Pvt. Ltd., the film also marks Ganesh Upreti’s return to Nepali cinema after a long hiatus; he traveled from the United States to Nepal specifically for the project.

After the Rain, a Rainbow is scheduled for a nationwide release on Poush 4. With its mix of experience and new energy, and its focus on youth voices amid national uncertainty, the film aims to resonate with audiences searching for hope beyond hardship—much like a rainbow after the rain.
