Kathmandu – Director Roshan Miraj’s upcoming film Lalima will focus on the experiences of the sex worker community and systemic injustice, with its release scheduled for March 13 (Falgun 29). The production team unveiled the film’s first poster on Tuesday, revealing both its theme and release date.
Based on the life experiences of around 3,000 sex workers, the film stars Roshani Karki in the lead role. Usha Rajak plays her mother, while Shishir Wangdel, Jeevan Bhattarai, Sabin Kattel, Ghanshyam Joshi, and Sushma Niraula feature in other key roles.
According to director Miraj, Lalima is pushed into the dark and harsh realities of city life as she attempts to free her mute mother from incarceration. The film is built around this challenging journey and the struggles she faces.
The poster presents Roshani Karki alone, highlighting Lalima’s vulnerability and inner conflict. Director Miraj described Lalima as not just a story of pain, but one of human courage standing against exploitation and injustice.
Produced in collaboration with Faith Aastha and Amplify Change, the film’s executive producer is Rina Lama, while the story and screenplay are penned by Miraj himself.
