Kathmandu — Actress Manisha Koirala has been honored at a special ceremony held in the British Parliament’s upper house, the House of Lords. Koirala received the honor for her significant contributions to women empowerment through films and other platforms.
Expressing her happiness after receiving the honor, Koirala said that it inspired her to continue working in the field of women’s empowerment. She thanked the organizers for giving her the opportunity to speak at such a prestigious venue and for showing solidarity after hearing about the situation of South Asian women.
“I will remember this moment for the rest of my life,” she said. “It is truly a matter of great honor for me to be standing in the House of Lords a place of tradition, leadership, and progress and to be able to speak on the issue of women’s empowerment in South Asia.”
The event was attended by British MPs, former parliamentarians, and women actively working in the field of women’s empowerment in South Asia.
