Kathmandu: Comedian Manoj Gajurel has issued a public apology following controversy over his appearance at the announcement event of Comedy Darbar Season 3.

Gajurel had worn a costume resembling a former king during the event, which sparked criticism on social media after photos went viral. As the backlash grew, he took to social platforms to clarify that the intent was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

“Our objective was never to disrespect anyone or hurt emotions. It was merely a fictional character presented in line with the show’s theme,” he stated, while apologizing for any unintended offense. He also assured that the team would be more sensitive and responsible while portraying cultural and historical subjects in the future.

Meanwhile, Comedy Darbar Season 3, directed by Shraddha Prasai and Bikki Agrawal, has already completed shooting for two episodes. Although it was initially planned to air from Baisakh 4, the release is likely to be postponed by a week due to pending post-production and technical issues.

The teaser will be released soon, officially announcing the new broadcast date. Actress Diya Maskey has joined the show this season in a queen’s role, alongside several new comedians and a revamped set design.
