Kathmandu: The Nepali film Gobar Ganesh, which was released on Magh 1, has earned approximately NPR 12.5 million by the end of its second week at the box office. The film is written, directed, produced, and headlined by popular comedian and actor Marichman Shrestha, widely known as Balchhi Dhurbe.

Reacting to the film’s performance, Balchhi Dhurbe said he feels satisfied and grateful for the love shown by audiences. Speaking to Artist Khabar, he shared that this is his first attempt at film production, and earning the audience’s appreciation means more to him than the revenue figures.

“This is my first effort as a film producer, and receiving love from the audience is the biggest achievement for me,” he said. “Even as the second week is nearing its end, the number of viewers in cinemas remains encouraging. People have been coming from villages to watch Gobar Ganesh. What could be bigger than this for me?”

However, commenting on the earnings, Balchhi Dhurbe admitted that the box office collection has not yet reached his initial expectations. He noted that the ongoing election period may have affected audience turnout. “The audience numbers could have been higher. Perhaps the upcoming elections have played a role. Still, I am happy,” he added.

Alongside Balchhi Dhurbe, the film features Varsha Siwakoti and Poojan Ghimire in lead roles.
