Kathmandu: The organizers of the 13th edition of the Music Khabar Music Awards have officially announced the recipients of various honors and awards to be presented during the grand ceremony scheduled for Asar 14, 2083 (June/July 2026) at Amrapali Banquet & Event, Baluwatar, Kathmandu.
According to event coordinator Sabita Pokharel, veteran composer Shambhujit Baskota will be honored with the prestigious “Music Khabar Lifetime Achievement Award 2082” in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to Nepali music spanning more than five decades. Baskota, who has composed and sung thousands of songs, is celebrated for timeless classics such as Rato Rani Phule Jhai Sanjhama, Mayale Bandha Timi Malai, Timro Tyo Hansilo Muharko, Purnimako Raat Pani, and Chatta Rumal Kya Malum. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 51,000, a certificate, and a traditional shawl.
Renowned lyricist Unnati Bohora ‘Sheela’ will receive the “Music Khabar Shabda Sheela Distinguished Honor” for her significant contribution to Nepali songwriting. Veteran lyricist Vijay Shivakoti will be presented with the “Music Khabar Silver Music Honor 2082” for his more than three decades of dedication to Nepali music.
This year’s “Music Khabar Decade Music Honor” will be awarded to singer Shiva Pariyar, folk singer Kalika Roka, lyricist Sushila Paudel, and lyricist Purushottam Sanu for their longstanding contributions to the music industry.

In the field of music journalism, journalists Kuber Giri and Gopi krishna Chapagain will be honored with the “Music Khabar Music Journalism Award” for their continued efforts in promoting Nepali music, arts, and cinema through media.
Similarly, lyricist Pushpa Khanal, currently based in Virginia, USA, will receive the “Music Khabar Diaspora Music Honor 2082” in recognition of her contributions to Nepali songwriting from abroad.
Young performer Yunish Ghimire will be presented with the “Music Khabar Child Talent Award 2082”, while singer, composer, lyricist, and physician Dr. Ranjit Jha will receive the “Music Khabar Musician Honor 2082.”
Veteran television journalist, cameraperson, editor, and director Udayaraj Sharma will be honored with the “Music Khabar Communication Honor 2082” for his notable contribution to Nepal’s media and creative industries.
The awards aim to recognize and celebrate outstanding personalities who have made remarkable contributions to Nepali music, literature, journalism, and cultural promotion.
