Kathmandu — Actress Namrata Sapkota, who once made headlines for saying she wanted to have a child without getting married, has now decided to tie the knot. She said, “I’ll probably get married before the end of 2084 (Bikram Sambat calendar year),” indicating her plans to marry soon. Namrata herself has confirmed that it will be a love marriage.
At one point, Namrata became the target of online trolls due to her own controversial statements. She had previously said, “I want to have a child without getting married.” This statement still follows her, often used as material for ridicule. Back then, she had expressed that since God has blessed women with the ability to become mothers, she would choose to have a child even if she never got married. She argued that there are now many ways to have a child and that one doesn’t necessarily need a husband or wife for it. She even mentioned that the law allows single mothers to grant citizenship to their children, and that she had a similar plan.
Namrata began her career in music videos and later debuted in films, though she didn’t gain significant traction in the film industry. She also worked on the comedy show Comedy Darbar, but hasn’t been very active in recent years. After turning toward spirituality and following Osho, Namrata has now reached the decision to get married. She has acted in several films, including Antaral, Chhakka Panja, Summer Love, and Bracelet.
