Kathmandu: The much-anticipated Nepali movie Bom Bihari held its auspicious muhurat ceremony today at the Hanuman Temple in Bhaktapur. The film’s shooting also began immediately after the ceremony.
Directed by DMS Malla, this will mark his debut as a feature film director, following his extensive experience of directing nearly 50 music videos. Malla informed Artist Khabar that the shooting schedule is planned for one month, taking place in both Kathmandu and Nepalgunj. The team will start with a week-long shoot in Kathmandu before moving to Nepalgunj.
Bom Bihari tells the story of a son born to a Nepali mother and an Indian father, revolving around the life of the titular character, Bom Bihari. Speaking to Artist Khabar, director Malla said, “Even with new actors, if the story and production are strong, audiences are willing to go to theaters. I am confident that this film will resonate with viewers.” Malla is also the producer and writer of the film.

The film features Surbir Pandit, Suman Jyoti Nyaupane (popularly known as Lyangri Dada), Dhruba Budhathoki, Jharna Risal, Sandhya Shrestha, Pushkar Raut, and Samrat K.C. Suman Jyoti Nyaupane, who has been busy in numerous music videos lately, revealed that she will play a negative role in the film. She said, “I am Bom Bihari in this film, as the title itself carries my name. Audiences have appreciated my negative roles in the past, and I hope they enjoy this one as well.”
Lead actress Jharna Risal shared that she is returning to the big screen after seven years. She has previously appeared in films like Bhumi The Great Lady, Parinam, and Kaslai Aafno Bhannu. Bom Bihari will be her fourth film.
The movie’s choreography is by Surendra Basnet, with makeup by Saroj Budhathoki. The production is managed by Suman Kafle, while the cinematography is handled by Rameshwar Humagai’s team. Editing is by Gautamraj Khadka. Binay Raj Paudel serves as the main assistant director, and Purushottam Pandit as assistant director. The film will feature songs by Anupam Chaudhary. The release date of Bom Bihari has not been announced yet.
