Kathmandu – A Couple Brought Together by a Midnight Message, Living a Blissful Life Today marks the wedding anniversary of popular artists and loving couple Swastima Khadka and Nischal Basnet. The couple has been married for nine years. Along with their marital life, their artistic journey has also been highly successful. However, they have not yet had children. They tied the knot in Falgun 2072 BS (March 2016) in an arranged marriage following their love relationship.
Swastima and Nischal met only five months before their wedding. Before that, they were just Facebook friends, exchanging casual greetings like “Hi” and “Hello”. However, a midnight Facebook post by Nischal sparked their love story.
It was 12 AM when Nischal posted a status on Facebook. Swastima, unable to sleep and scrolling through Facebook, liked his post. Immediately after, she received a message from Nischal:
“Don’t you need to sleep?”
Swastima recalls, “Since it was late at night, he must have noticed my like instantly, so he messaged me.”
That night, their conversation continued for a long time—starting at 12:30 AM and lasting until 5 AM. Just five months later, they got engaged and had a joyful arranged marriage.
At the time of their wedding, the couple was given the title “National Brother and Sister-in-law”, and even today, people affectionately refer to them by this nickname.
Nischal recently shared a photo of himself and Swastima on Facebook with the caption:
“Happy Anniversary!”
