Kathmandu — The Nepali film Permanent Resident: PR held its grand premiere on Wednesday at QFX City Square Hall in Samakhushi, receiving overwhelming praise from both the audience and the film fraternity.
The premiere saw the presence of director Shovhit Basnet along with lead actors Suraj Paudel and Binita Karki. Many prominent figures from the Nepali film industry including Rekha Thapa, Deepa Shree Niraula, Gauri Malla, Rajina Upreti, Karishma KC, Jay Kishan Basnet, Sabin Shrestha, and Devika Bandana attended the event and congratulated the team, praising the film’s impressive presentation.
After the screening, actress Rekha Thapa expressed her appreciation for the film’s overall production quality and the natural performances of the debut actors. Film Development Board Chairman Dinesh DC also lauded the film, stating that its “direction, acting, and storytelling are all strong,” and encouraged audiences to watch it.
Actor Salinman Baniya shared that Suraj and Binita delivered an admirable debut performance and wished them success in their careers.
Director Basnet said he was emotionally moved by the enthusiastic response outside the hall, adding, “Seeing people rush to take photos with the hero and heroine felt like a moment of achievement.”
Actress Rajina Upreti shared that some scenes deeply touched her, highlighting how authentically the film portrays the struggles faced by Nepali youths abroad.
The film is based on the challenges Nepali students face while trying to obtain permanent residency (PR) in Australia. It was filmed in both Nepal and Australia.
With a total runtime of 128 minutes, this drama genre film is set to be released nationwide starting this Friday.
