Kathmandu — Prakash Saput says, “Praising KP Sharma Oli was a mistake. To clarify the controversy further, I was never a member of the UML party, neither before nor now. I didn’t praise him from a political perspective. I only spoke a few words about KP Oli’s life journey according to the event’s format and that was my big mistake.”
Prakash Saput had spent about five minutes at an event calling KP Oli a hero of change. Because of that praise, many viewers decided not to spend their time or money watching his film. The sentiment “Why watch a film made by someone who praises KP Oli?” spread across social media.
To control the backlash, Saput tried to defend himself, saying he wished for a prime minister whom the country wouldn’t have to insult for praising. But his explanation didn’t help much.
The film didn’t perform as expected commercially. To put it more clearly, Prakash Saput’s film failed, and now he is self-reflecting, admitting that praising KP Oli was indeed his mistake.
