Kathmandu- The production team of “Harsha”, the debut film of director Ekta Paudel, has been visiting various cities across the country to promote the film. On Friday, the team reached several schools and colleges in Eastern Nepal’s Jhapa district to publicize the movie.
Director Ekta Paudel, along with actors Khagendra Lamichhane and Varsha Raut, visited Lincoln College, Nidhi School, Balmiki School, and Children School in Birtamod, Jhapa, to inform students about the film’s storyline and encourage them to watch it.
The promotional material highlights that “Harsha” marks the return of family-themed stories in Nepali cinema after a long time. Director Paudel mentioned that the film, set to release on Mangsir 12 (Nepali calendar), was chosen in this genre because the trend of family films in recent Nepali cinema has been declining. Paudel is the niece of the late director Shiv Regmi.
Having studied filmmaking at the New York Film Academy, completed a bachelor’s in mass communication, and a master’s in management and leadership, Paudel has previously produced a few short films as well.
The film stars Khagendra Lamichhane, Varsha Raut, and Simon, along with Nir Shah, Santosh Pant, Sharmila Malla, Maotse Gurung, Vishal Pahadi, Nima Pandey, Luniva Tuladhar, Anshu Maharjan, Renu Pradhan, Suvarna Thapa, Shrishti Maharjan, and Sirjana Napit. Cinematography is by Alok Shukla, music by Sameer, Himal, Basant Sapkota, and Elish Karka, editing by Lokesh Bajracharya, and choreography by Sunil Kshetri and director Paudel.
Produced under the banners of Ashtalakshmi Productions and E-Prime Movies, the story of the film is written by director Paudel herself. Prashann Paudel and Bikash Paudel are producers, Hikmat Chokhal is the executive producer, Ishwar Ghimire is the production manager, and Kuldeep Sharma is the chief assistant director. The film will be distributed by Kafiya Films and DCN, with Budhasubba Digital as the digital partner.
