Rekha Thapa to Produce ‘Kaukuti’, Directed by Comedy Darbar’s Shraddha Prasai

Kathmandu: Actress Rekha Thapa is set to produce a new Nepali film titled Kaukuti. The project was officially announced on Tuesday after Rekha performed special prayers on Monday evening at Kainchi Dham in Uttarakhand, India, a temple widely known for Hindu saint Neem Karoli Baba. The film will be the eighth production under her banner.

The movie will be directed by Shraddha Prasai, who is known as the director of the popular comedy show Comedy Darbar. Shraddha has also directed the upcoming film Kakakiki, which is yet to be released.

Rekha Thapa will play the lead role in the film, while the makers are preparing to introduce a new male actor in the main role. The story is written by Vicky Agrawal and Binesh Rai, with the screenplay prepared by Binesh himself.

The film is being financed by Navraj Shrestha and Balram Shahi Thakuri, who is also Rekha Thapa’s husband.

Shooting is scheduled to begin in October. The film’s music will be composed by Prashant Siwakoti, while one of the songs will be sung by popular rapper Lil Jhola (Akash Kshetri).
