Kathmandu — The second official poster of the Nepali film Lalima, scheduled for release on Falgun 29, has been made public.
The production team unveiled the new poster on Friday, featuring leading actress Roshni Karki in a solo appearance.
According to the film’s director and writer, Roshan Miraj, the second poster was released following the strong curiosity created among audiences by the first-look poster.
In the newly released poster, Roshni is portrayed as calm, resilient and confident despite being surrounded by difficult circumstances. She is shown standing in soft light entering through a window, with a composed and peaceful expression after pain and struggle. The visual presentation also hints that her character represents a sex worker in the film.
Speaking about the poster, director Miraj said that while the first poster focused on helplessness and mystery, the second poster reflects strength, self-confidence, endurance and transformation. He added that the red color used in the film title and the dramatic cinematic lighting convey that Lalima is not only a story of fear, but also a story of awakening and inner strength.
The film stars Jeevan Bhattarai in the lead role opposite Roshni. Other major cast members include Usha Rajak, Sushma Niraula, Ghanshyam Joshi, Sabin Kattel and Shishir Wangdel in key roles.
The production team claims that the film is inspired by the real-life experiences, struggles and stories of around three thousand sex workers.
Presented by Faith Aastha, the film has Rina Lama as its executive producer.
According to the distributors, Lalima is currently the only Nepali film scheduled for theatrical release on Falgun 29 following the House of Representatives election period. The film is being distributed by National Cine Group Nepal.
