
Kathmandu – The shooting of the film Maitighar has officially begun today. According to producer Rohit Adhikari, filming commenced with an inaugural ceremony held at Takam village in Myagdi. A special puja (ritual worship) was conducted at the local Ganesh Temple to mark the auspicious beginning.
Producer Adhikari informed that 20 days of filming will take place in the villages of Takam and Dharpani, followed by the remaining 20 days in the Tatopani area of Darbang. Prem Prasad Pun, Chairperson of Dhaulagiri Rural Municipality, was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. He expressed his happiness, noting that this was the first time a film was being shot in the village and expressed hope that the film would play an important role in promoting local tourism.
During the inauguration, Ward No. 7 Chairperson Ashok Khatri performed the ceremonial coconut breaking. He also emphasized that with proper publicity, the film could contribute to the village’s development. Before the inauguration, the film crew was welcomed into the village with traditional music and celebrations.
The film will feature actors such as Kedar Ghimire, Dhiraj Magar, Prakash Saput, Upasana Singh Thakuri, Shyamashree Sherpa, Buddhi Tamang, and Shishir Wangdel, among others. Directed by Milan Tamang, the film’s cinematography will be handled by Susan Prajapati. The production team has announced plans to release the movie during the Dashain festival, specifically from the day of Phulpati.
Maitighar is being produced under the banner of Rohit Adhikari Films, with additional investment from Rabin Sherchan and Dhiraj Tamang. Ishwar Shrestha and Neeraj Katuwal are the executive producers. The film will tell a story centered around Tamang culture. The crew is planning a total of 40 days for shooting. Previously, producer Adhikari’s films such as Gajalu, Chh Maya Chhapakkai, and Farki Farki have been well received by audiences.
