Kathmandu — Popular comedian Sundar Khanal had a passion for doing caricatures of others since childhood. He also worked as an RJ (radio jockey) for a few years. After moving to the city, Sundar had to go through a lot of struggles to reach the position he is in today. In particular, his caricature of entertainment journalist Prakash Subedi—popularly known as “Chipleti Uncle”—was well-loved by audiences and listeners. After performing the “Chipleti Uncle” caricature, he came into the limelight.
Born in Tanahu, Sundar had an interest in acting from an early age. After coming to Kathmandu, he began participating in comedy shows, but initially failed to grab much attention from audiences. Eventually, his life took a turn when he participated in the reality show Comedy Champion.
Today, he is one of the most admired artists in the comedy show Comedy Darbar, directed by Vicky Agrawal. Another interesting fact about Sundar is that he also writes songs—he is a lyricist as well.
Sundar’s father is involved in the teaching profession. Therefore, his father had wished for his son to become a government employee. However, Sundar chose to follow his own passion and has now succeeded in making a name for himself. Having already worked in a few television serials, Sundar is now preparing to make his debut in films very soon.
