Kathmandu — Nepali film ‘Viral Gorkhe’, which has been running in Nepali cinemas since Magh 1, is now set to be released in various cities across India. Entering its second week of screening in Nepal this Friday, the film is preparing for an Indian release in the coming days.
Producer Amit Shrestha confirmed that a verbal agreement has already been reached with a company that regularly releases Nepali films in India. He added that the person responsible for the Indian release will arrive in Nepal soon to finalize the deal through a written agreement.
According to the production team, the film will be released in major Indian cities including Delhi, as well as areas with a significant Nepali-speaking population such as Darjeeling, Siliguri, Gangtok, Kurseong, Kalimpong, and Assam. Following the film’s strong audience response in Nepal, Indian distributors approached the team for its release.
The producers claim that preparations for the Indian release are nearly complete and that the film is seeing increasing audience turnout in Nepali cinemas, which is also reflected in online ticket booking platforms.
The story of ‘Viral Gorkhe’ revolves around the struggles and unusual actions of the main character, played by Saugat Malla (Gorkhe), as he attempts to go viral on social media. The film features Saugat Malla alongside actress Srishti Shrestha, and its engaging trailer has successfully generated excitement among audiences.
Directed by Nigam Shrestha, who previously helmed films such as Chhadke, Lalpurja, and Chhadke 2, the film presents a contemporary, relatable storyline. The director has expressed confidence that the film will resonate with audiences due to its socially relevant theme.
Produced under the banners of AK Brother Company, The GMI Academy, and Nirvana Film School, the film also stars Buddhi Tamang, Laxmi Giri, Rajaram Paudel, Rishi Dhamala, Ravi Bhujel, and Miss Pavi. The producers include Amit Shrestha, Vishal Tamrakar, Mahesh Lamichhane, and Kewal Jung Kunwar, with Nirvana Film School, Bhuvan Adhikari, and Nikhil Paudel as co-producers.
Shot in Bhujung village of Lamjung, Gorkha, and Chitwan, the film features cinematography by Amar Maharjan, action direction by Shree Shrestha, editing by Bande Prasad, and distribution by Sunil Manandhar.
