Overseas Release Rights of Nepali Film ‘Kumari’ Sold for Australia, USA, Canada, and the Middle East

Kathmandu: The highly anticipated Nepali romantic film “Kumari”, set to release across Nepal on Magh 23, has sold its overseas distribution rights to multiple countries. According to producer Mahendra Adhikari, the film’s rights have already been secured for Australia, the United States, Canada, and Middle Eastern countries.

In Australia, the film will be released by Askast Nepal and 3KG Events, while Atray Production and Koseli Colorado will handle the U.S. release. In Canada, it will be distributed by Mero Events, and NepFilm will manage the release across Middle Eastern countries.

Adhikari further noted that following the trailer’s overwhelmingly positive response, there has been continuous demand from other countries for screenings. The trailer, unveiled in front of over 10,000 viewers at a historic event in Bhrikuti Mandap, Kathmandu, has already generated significant buzz both domestically and internationally. It also trended on YouTube in a short time, garnering nearly 800,000 views.

Director Dinesh Raut expressed that releasing the trailer to such an unprecedented audience felt like a dream come true and expressed confidence that this excitement will carry through to cinema halls.

Kumari marks the acting debut of Abhishek Khadka and Akriti Rajbhandari in the lead roles. The film also features performances by Ghanshyam Joshi, Sunita Shrestha, Aakanksha Karki, Madhu Khadka, Sanam Shrestha, Saku Shah, Saroj Lamichhane, and Mansa Sharma among others.

Produced under the banner of Vinish Entertainment, the film’s story and screenplay are written by Bikash Subedi. Cinematography is handled by Susan Prajapati, while editing and color grading are by Suprim Parajuli, and sound design by Uttam Nyaupane. Poster and publicity design were done by Royal Bhimesen, and Kedar Bhusal serves as the executive producer.

The film’s songs—“Doko Bunne”, “Kata Chhau Mero Phool”, and “Timi Bina”—have already received widespread attention. Particularly, “Doko Bunne” has surpassed 6 million views. All songs feature vocals by Kehar Singh Limbu, with music composed by Suman Tamang and lyrics by Sagar Lamichhane Magar and Suman Tamang.

Having established a successful reputation in romantic storytelling, director Dinesh Raut has returned to the genre after focusing on socially themed films. The production team believes Kumari will captivate audiences both in Nepal and overseas.
