Kathmandu: The trailer of the Nepali film Gobar Ganesh has been officially released. The production team unveiled the trailer during a special event held in Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The newly released trailer portrays the harsh realities faced by a village youth who comes to Kathmandu after failing to continue his education. Dreaming of a better future, the young man leaves his village for the capital, only to confront the brutal truth of city life.

The trailer highlights how Kathmandu is far from the dreamland imagined in rural areas. In his attempt to change his life, the protagonist is forced to take up waste collection as a means of survival. His daily struggle, the pressure of earning independently, and the emotional toll it takes on his family form the emotional core of the trailer.

The film also captures the pain of a mother who discovers her son’s miserable condition in the city, along with the challenges faced by a youth who once lived a sheltered life in the village but must now fight for survival in the urban jungle. Through this narrative, Gobar Ganesh reflects the shattered dreams of countless Nepali youths migrating from villages to cities in search of opportunities.

Earlier, the production team had released the film’s title song, featuring vocals by director Marichman Shrestha himself.

Scheduled to hit theaters on Magh 1, Gobar Ganesh is directed by Marichman Shrestha (Balchhi Dhurbe) and is presented under the banner of Balchhi Dhurbe Films.

The film stars Marichman Shrestha and Barsha Shivakoti in lead roles, alongside Vinod Nyaupane, Padam Tamang, Nirmal Sharma, Laxminath Timilsina, Santosh Baniya, Sandip Lama, Mao Tse Gurung, Sita Devi Timilsina, Pujan Ghimire (Puku), Buddhi Tamang, Bishal Pahadi, Ramesh Budhathoki, and Swastika Lamichhane.

The technical team includes Taranath Nyaupane as chief editor, Yogesh Kaji Shah for background score, Shankar Pandey for production, Shivaram Shrestha as director of photography, and Bipin Mall as editor.
