Kathmandu — The release of ‘Tunnel 26: The Curse Beneath the Mountain’, a collaborative production between Nepal, Bhutan and India, has been postponed just a day before its scheduled release.

The film was set to release in Nepal and Bhutan on October 9 (Asoj 23). However, following an overwhelmingly positive response at its grand premiere, the production team has decided to postpone the release and take the film to a wider international audience.

According to the production team, instead of limiting the film’s release to Nepal and Bhutan, ‘Tunnel 26’ will now be released worldwide in four languages — Nepali, Bhutanese, Hindi and English. A new release date will be announced soon after the necessary international distribution arrangements are completed.

The film is a collaborative production involving Dorjigs Production, Reltic Pictures, DoMCIIP and Rolling Images Pictures, with Nirvana Chaudhary of CG Group also associated with the film’s production. Dorji Wangchuk, Prashant Kumar Gupta, Krishna Gupta and DD Kinley are among those involved in the production, while Dorji Wangchuk serves as executive producer and Pradeep Khadka as creative producer.

Written, directed and edited by DD Kinley, the film stars Sangay Tsheltrim, Anup Bikram Shahi, Anna Sharma, Nidup Dorji, Deki Lhamo, Phuntshok Dhondup and Roshni Dada in key roles.

The cinematography is handled by Dirgha Gurung and Sangay T. Tenzing, with Raju Tamang serving as the action director. Krishna Sharma is the production designer, while Pema Lhamo oversees production management and Blue Tshering Dorji handles makeup and costume.

The film’s music is composed by Terdsak Janpan, with sound by Karan Thamavong. Livents Studios Pvt. Ltd. and Santosh Kumar Karki are also associated with the film’s management and production.

The production team has apologized to audiences, exhibitors, media personnel and well-wishers for the postponement and expressed gratitude for the strong support and positive response received during the premiere.

The team says the decision has been taken with the aim of taking ‘Tunnel 26’ to a much wider global audience, with a new release date to be announced shortly.
