Kathmandu — Director Sudarshan Thapa is set to direct and produce a new film titled Shubha Bibaha (Auspicious Marriage) with actor Pradeep Khadka in the lead role. While registering the film’s title at the Film Development Board, Thapa listed Pradeep Khadka as the lead actor. This marks the second collaboration between director Thapa and actor Khadka, following their successful partnership a decade ago in the film Prem Geet.
Director Thapa mentioned that he had signed a written agreement with actor Khadka for this film last year, although the film’s title had not been publicly disclosed by either party until now.
Thapa recalls their collaboration in Prem Geet as a successful one, noting that the film elevated the careers of many artists and technicians involved — including now-superstar Pradeep Khadka. Indeed, Prem Geet is often regarded as a classic romantic film and was successful in winning the hearts of audiences across all demographics. Now, the duo faces the challenge of creating a film that can surpass the success of Prem Geet and once again captivate viewers.
Director Thapa has proven himself successful in directing romance-based films, and Pradeep Khadka has gained popularity for his performances as a romantic hero. The upcoming film Shubha Bibaha is also a romance-based family drama. According to Thapa, the movie will reflect social values and highlight the cultural and religious significance of marriage in Nepali society.
As of now, the lead actress has not yet been finalized. However, it has been reported that preparations are underway to finalize the entire cast and crew soon, and the film will begin shooting shortly thereafter.
