Kathmandu – Arjun Ghimire, popularly known as Pade, who gained fame as the creator and director of the well-known television series Bhadragol, has officially stepped into film direction. On Thursday, coinciding with Kheer Khane Din (a traditional Nepali festival day), he held the auspicious inauguration (muhurat) of his debut directorial film Jharipachhiko Indreni at Dhanteri Barahi Temple in Lalitpur.
Until last year, Ghimire was actively involved in producing and directing the hit TV series Sakkigoni. On Falgun 13 of last year, his production team, JPT Creation, released the feature film Laaj Sharanam, where Arjun played the lead role. After the film became a box office hit, he decided to take a step further and enter full-fledged film direction.
In Jharipachhiko Indreni, only one cast member from the Sakkigoni team—Priyana Acharya (known as Munni)—has been included so far. Speaking to the media after the muhurat, director Pade mentioned that additional cast members may be added depending on the script’s needs. Notably, this film also marks the comeback of actor Ganesh Upreti to Nepali cinema after nearly nine years. Upreti expressed his excitement, stating that he felt fortunate to return through such a strong team.
The film also features performances by Nirmal Sharma, Ramesh Upreti, Deepashree Niraula, alongside Ganesh and Priyana. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether Arjun Ghimire himself will appear in the movie as an actor. With the muhurat completed, filming began the same day and will take place across Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur.
The movie is based on a family-oriented storyline, with a shooting schedule planned for 45 days. The story is written by Kumar Benjankar (also known as Kumar Ben), while the screenplay is co-written by Arjun Ghimire and Bishal Ghimire. The film is being made under the Pashupati Shivaji Entertainment banner, with Buddha Thapa handling cinematography and Sushil Kadariya as the lead investor.
One of the songs in the film is said to feature a rap segment by Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah, with lyrics written by Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) leader Ganesh Karki. Mayor Balen Shah’s wife, Sabina Kafle, was also present at the film’s muhurat ceremony and extended her best wishes for the project’s success.
