Kathmandu — Actress and director Deepashree Niraula has officially signed on for the upcoming film ‘Parvati’, which is currently in the pre-production phase. She was brought on board by the film’s production team on Tuesday. Neeta Dhungana Adhikari, who is both directing and starring in the film, shared that although she had been in verbal talks with Deepashree for some time, the official agreement was finalized on Tuesday. “We had already verbally agreed and were discussing the project. Today, it has been finalized,” said Neeta, adding, “Having Deepa didi in my project is a big thing for me.” Neeta has signed Deepashree in a leading actress role.

After joining the film, Deepashree fondly recalled her collaboration with Neeta 12 years ago. “Back in 2070 B.S. (2013 A.D.), we helped her during the making of ‘Chha Ekan Chha’,” Deepashree said, praising Neeta. “Now, 12 years later, it feels like the river has returned. She has signed me for ‘Parvati’. It’s the month of Shrawan — a sacred time symbolizing the union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati — and to be offered the lead role in a film named Parvati during this month is truly special. I’m thankful she remembered me.”

Neeta also expressed happiness, saying, “She remembered me 12 years ago, and now I get to cast her in my directorial debut. It’s a moment of pride.” Deepashree is a successful director and actress, known for her work with the Chhakka Panja team. Most of her directed films have been box-office hits, which is why her involvement in Parvati is being seen as a significant development.

Before Deepashree’s confirmation, popular dance group Cartoonz Crew’s Saroj Adhikari had already joined the team as an assistant director. Neeta Dhungana Adhikari, a successful actress, will be playing the lead role in the film, which she is also directing. Two official posters of the movie have already been released, and filming is set to begin from Asoj (September/October). The production team also announced the film’s release date — Magh 1st (around mid-January 2026).

Apart from Neeta and Deepashree, the names of other cast members have not yet been revealed. According to Neeta, the rest of the cast and technical crew will be announced gradually. The story of Parvati is written by Neeta Dhungana herself, with screenplay and dialogues by Shivam Adhikari. Cinematography will be handled by Kabir Lal and Shahid Lal. Producers Sabitri Adhikari, Narhari Adhikari, and Pawan Dhungana are backing the film financially.

Neeta had previously stepped into film production through a short film. This time, with Parvati and another film titled Sukh-Dukh, she is officially making her directorial debut. In terms of distribution, Rich Entertainment and Apple Entertainment will handle distribution inside the Kathmandu Valley, while FD Company will manage distribution outside the Valley.
