Kathmandu — The official soundtrack (OST) song of one of the most highly anticipated Nepali films, “Balidan”, has been released. Titled “Yo Jyan Balidan”, the lyrical video features vocals and music by Sujan Chapagain, with lyrics penned by Hark Saud. The song expresses a son’s deep emotional devotion to his mother and motherland. It conveys the message that life is born and lived in the embrace of one’s mother and country, and when needed, one should be willing to sacrifice even their life for them.
Through the protagonist’s voice, the song reveals profound love, sacrifice, and devotion toward the nation and mother. The musical arrangement is done by Kovid Bajra, with background vocals provided by Vivek Jha, Kriti Nepali, and Kovid Bajra. The mixing and mastering were also handled by Kovid Bajra.
While releasing the song, director Santosh Sen recalled that the dream to contribute something to the country through art had sparked in his heart three years ago. “Love stories can entertain, but they cannot reveal the wounds of the nation,” he said. “When injustice continuously surrounds its citizens, it becomes essential to show how far a young person can go for their mother and motherland and that must be expressed through art. This thought gave birth to ‘Balidan’,” he added. “Today, the bloodshed endured by generations has given birth to a new era for our country. Hence, ‘Balidan’ is not just a figment of imagination but an echo of reality. This film is not just about dialogue on the screen it is the cry of a wounded nation.”
“Balidan” is produced under the banner of Aasusen Films Pvt. Ltd. The story is written by Darshan Ji, with Pawan Bradford Bista as the producer and Prem Puri as the executive producer. The film stars Sameer Bhatt, Saugat Malla, Richa Sharma, Arpan Thapa, Kavita Rai, Hemant Budhathoki, Santosh Sen, Prem Puri, Kameshwor Chaurasiya, Prajwal Dulal, Jeevan Baral, and Ritesh Jung Poudel, among others.
Following the previously released poster, pre-teaser, and teaser which already generated significant buzz the OST has further fueled excitement for the film. Director Sen also announced that the official trailer will be released in a few days. The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters across the country on Fulpati of Bada Dashain (Ashoj 13).
