Kathmandu — Recently, there have been rumors that legendary actor Rajesh Hamal might become the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Hamal, who has long shown interest in diplomacy and politics, was widely expected by many to enter politics at this time. However, that assumption has proven to be wrong.
Clarifying the rumors about his possible appointment as Foreign Minister, he said, “I will become a leader only by contesting elections, being chosen by the people, and on the people’s recommendation.” He also admitted that he had indeed received an offer for the position of Foreign Minister.
Further explaining his political intentions, he said, “Yes, I am interested in politics. But given the current situation of the country, I do not wish to enter politics right now. I will only become a leader thoughtfully and with the people’s support.”
Looking at Rajesh Hamal’s family background, his father, Chudabahadur Hamal, had completed his Master’s degree in Political Science from Banaras at the age of 22 and had worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
