
Kathmandu – Renowned cinematographer, producer, and director of the Nepali film industry, Purushottam Pradhan, has officially handed over the scripts of more than 60 of his films to the Film Development Board today.
On this occasion, the chairman of the Film Development Board, Dinesh DC, honored Pradhan’s contribution, calling it “a priceless gift for preserving the rich history of Nepali cinema.” He stated, “A script is the soul of a film. Preserving these scripts will serve as a source of inspiration and research for future filmmakers.”
Major scripts handed over include:
- Chhakka Panja series (Chhakka Panja, Chhakka Panja 3)
- Kabaddi series (Kabaddi, Kabaddi 2, Kabaddi 3)
- Loot series (Loot, Loot 2)
- Nai Nabhannu La series (Nai Nabhannu La 2, Nai Nabhannu La 4, Nai Nabhannu La 5)
- Lappan Chhappan series (Lappan Chhappan, Lappan Chhappan 2)

He also handed over scripts of notable short films like Sahakari, Juneli, and the internationally award-winning Queen’s Award Winning “In Cinematography.”
The Film Development Board acknowledged this as “a significant step for the long-term benefit of the Nepali film industry.” The board has called on all filmmakers to contribute their original scripts, documents, and artworks to the board for preservation, stating, “This will immortalize the legacy of Nepali cinema.”
Purushottam Pradhan has been active in the Nepali film industry for over 30 years. He is the cinematographer behind iconic films such as Vigilante (Nepal’s first full 3D film), and is currently active as a producer, director, and technical expert.
