Kathmandu— Veteran Nepali actor and filmmaker Nir Shah has returned to film direction after nearly a decade with his new psychological drama Kamala Miss.

The film officially began shooting on Friday in Imadol, Lalitpur, at the premises of New Millennium School, following a formal inauguration ceremony.

Directed by Nir Shah himself, Kamala Miss explores subtle and complex dimensions of human psychology. The director said the film is designed as an introspective narrative aimed at encouraging deeper social and emotional dialogue among audiences.

The film is presented by Vijay Mall Smriti Pratisthan. Umesh Mall and Chaitanya Pradhan serve as executive producers, while Pushkar Lama (Prem Bhomjan) is the line producer. The story is written by Vijay Mall, and the screenplay and dialogues have been jointly prepared by Nir Shah, Prajal Dulal and Sugam Dulal.

Nir Shah began his film career with the classic Nepali film Parivartan. As a director, he has delivered several acclaimed titles, including Vasudev, Pachchis Basanta, Rajamati, Basanti, Masan and Seto Bagh. He has also appeared in more than 300 Nepali films as an actor.

His most recent acting release, Paran, was a commercial success, collecting around NPR 180 million at the box office.

With Kamala Miss, Nir Shah is expected to reconnect with audiences through a thought-provoking and psychologically driven cinematic experience.
