Kuma: Sagar and Khwop Band Wins ‘Best Band’ at National Music Awards 2081

Kathmandu – The popular Nepali band Kum: Sagar and Khwop has been awarded Best Band at the National Music Awards 2081, organized by Radio Kantipur. The band had been nominated in the category for their hit song “Ae Mai Re”.

Other strong contenders in the same category included:

  • “Badalsari” by Swor Featuring Zon Chamling Rai
  • “Bhavana” by Rockheads
  • “Sadaibhari” by Abhaya & The Steam Engines
  • “Sparsha Sangeet” by Purna Rai and Daaju Bhaiharu

In a newly added category for Hip-Hop and R&B, rapper Brijesh Shrestha won the award for his song “Mutumaai Basechha”. Nominees in this category included rising rap artists OMG, Vek & Jemcy, Yabesh & Bijen, and Dimitri.

The award ceremony, held on Saturday at the Godawari Sunrise Convention Center, featured performances and the distribution of awards across 14 categories. The highlight of the event was the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to veteran music composer Shambhujeet Baskota, honoring his long-standing contribution to the Nepali music industry.
