
Kathmandu – ‘Rastriya Lok Sancharkarmi Nepal’ successfully hosted a vibrant Rice Planting Festival on the occasion of the 22nd National Paddy Day (Asar 15). The event took place in the paddy fields of Shivachowk, Ward No. 7, Gokarneshwor, with enthusiastic participation from numerous artists and cultural figures.
The festival blended tradition with entertainment as artists first performed cultural programs and then actively took part in the symbolic rice planting, highlighting Nepal’s deep agricultural roots.
Mayor of Gokarneshwor Municipality, Mr. Deepak Kumar Risal, expressed his gratitude to the National Folk Communicators of Nepal for their ongoing efforts in preserving Nepal’s culture and identity. Emphasizing the importance of agriculture in achieving national self-reliance, he called upon all to support and promote farming activities.
Notable personalities in attendance included veteran singer, musician, and filmmaker Narayan Rayamajhi, along with singers Badri Pangeni, Nabin Paudel, Manju Paudel, Saroj Lamichhane, President of the ‘Rastriya Lok Tatha Dohori Geet Pratisthan Nepal’ Rita Thapa Magar, model Aliza Gautam, Sanju Neupane, and child singer Ayusha Gautam, among others.
In recognition of their contribution to traditional Nepali folk music, especially Ghase Geet (grass-cutting songs), Shiva Narayan Joshi and Narayan Rayamajhi were honored during the event.
Chandramani Gautam, President of the Rastriya Lok Sancharkarmi Nepal, shared that the organization has been hosting the Rice Planting Festival every year on Asar 15, aiming to promote agricultural self-reliance in Nepal. He emphasized the group’s commitment to preserving and celebrating authentic Nepali culture through such events.
The festival not only showcased the richness of Nepali traditions but also reinforced the importance of agriculture in sustaining the nation’s future.
